Plumbing and gas for the Pilbara
Licensed plumbing and gas for Newman, Karratha, Port Hedland and Tom Price — remote and mine-site work from a plumber who spent six years based in the Pilbara. By arrangement, planned properly.
The Pilbara is not a place you service from a city van. Parts are hours away, and a half-finished job is a job that fails. North Contracting knows it firsthand — Kim spent six years based in Newman, servicing mines and remote communities before bringing that discipline back to the coast. Remote work is core to the business. Plumbing and gas across the Pilbara is taken on by arrangement, planned around access and travel, and lodged with the same WA paperwork as any coastal job.
“Out here, self-sufficient isn't optional — it's the job.”
Six years based in Newman
This isn't fly-in experience picked up on a single contract. Kim lived in Newman for six years, running plumbing and gas across mine sites and remote communities where the work has to stand on its own — no second van up the road, no quick trip to the supplier. That is where the self-sufficient way of working came from, and it is why a remote Pilbara job is normal ground rather than a stretch. The reputation was built out here first, then brought back to the coast.
Mine sites, camps and remote communities
Across the Pilbara the work ranges from village and camp plumbing to industrial gas and the water systems that keep a remote community running. We handle installs, repairs, hot water, drainage and gas fitting to WA standard, with the compliance paperwork lodged no matter how far out the site is. Mine-site work carries its own access and induction requirements, and those are planned in up front so a crew turning up isn't held at the gate.
How scheduling and lead times work
Pilbara work runs on planned trips and arrangement, not a same-day callout — and we are straight about that. Tell us the job, the location and the timeframe, and we will give you an honest window rather than a maybe. Longer lead times come with the territory, so booking early matters, especially around shutdowns and peak periods. What doesn't change is the standard of the work or the paperwork: the further out it is, the more it suits us.
Set up to work self-sufficiently
There is no corner store for parts in the Pilbara, so we arrive with what the job needs and plan for the distance. Off-grid supply, bore and tank systems, LPG, pumps and drainage are all standard, and the septic and off-grid crossover with our remote and earthworks work means a whole block can be set up to run itself. Long driveways and hours between towns are the normal, not the exception.
The same compliance, wherever the job is
Remote does not mean relaxed. Every plumbing and gas job in the Pilbara is completed to Western Australian standard and the correct notices and certificates are lodged, exactly as they are on the coast. That matters for insurance, for industrial and mine-site requirements, and for anyone who needs proof the work was done by a licensed hand.
